A great big congratulations to everyone this morning for lifting the this city off its foundations ;) PB's for just about every single one of our ladies I believe, amazing work! The boys were so close, and to be honest, James losing 5kgs in the past month has just edged him over the line but how close!!
Please see the results below and I can't wait for the 80kg barrier to be busted down by the girls next time - Caitlin had it but lost it in her grip strength, your personal trainer will soon fix that ;))

PB Saturday August 12th

9/8/2017

Comments

Our first PB Saturday starts this weekend with.... DEADLIFTS :))

Order of Play:
There will be three warm up bars set up for you and one competition bar (sounds serious doesn't it).
The comp bar will increase at 2.5kg increments
You each get three attempts at whatever weight you choose on the comp bar - each time at a heavier weight you choose.
The weight on the comp bar cannot go backwards, that is, if you miss an attempt you can re-try with the same weight or rest longer and try the next 2.5kg heavier increment.

Warm up guidelines:

How to Identify a Food Intolerance

8/6/2016

Comments

You're suffering some sort of symptoms and you're pretty sure it's a digestive problem but not sure where to start or what to blame... Know the feeling!
Well good news, there's the simple way, and the hard way for sorting you out.

You can get a food intolerance or food sensitivity blood test done. These will take a small blood sample and test you against 60 - 200+ foods, colours, preservatives etc (the more you pay, the more they'll test ;).

What is a Food Intolerance and Common Types?

8/6/2016

Comments

A Food Intolerance is simply when your body has a chemical reaction (as opposed to immune reactions in allergy's) and can't properly or completely process a food - resulting in sugars and proteins being only partially digested.
This differs from a food allergy which can be seen in our previous post.

Some people can tolerate a reasonable amount of the food, but if they eat too much (or too often) they get symptoms because their body cannot tolerate unlimited amounts.
The onset of symptoms can be almost immediate, or may be delayed by several hours; likewise the symptoms can be very subtle (bloating, slight lethargy) to severe (stomach cramps, IBS). These inconsistency's are why food intolerances are sometimes very difficult to identify.

Food Intolerance vs Food Allergy Difference

14/4/2016

Comments

Quite simply; a food allergy occurs when the immune system reacts to a harmless food. A food intolerance is when the body has a chemical reaction to eating a particular food, drink, or additive / colouring etc. Food intolerances tend to show milder symptoms, and unlike allergies, cannot cause severe allergic reactions.

Difference between Gluten Intolerance and Celiac Disease

12/4/2016

Comments

Celiac disease is a lot more severe, but a lot more rare than an intolerance - just like other food allergies vs food intolerances.

Celiac disease effects about 0.5% of the population, compared to about 15% for an intolerance.
